Teams of women internationals have been selected to represent England Golf in Nations Cup events at three forthcoming championships
Gemma Clews of Cheshire, Alice Hewson of Hertfordshire and Sophie Lamb of Lancashire will form the team in the Irish women’s stroke play at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club from 23rd – 24th May.
Clews, with India Clyburn of Lincolnshire and Hollie Muse of Lancashire, will challenge in the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews from 30-31 May. The reserve is Bethan Popel of Gloucestershire.
Meghan MacLaren of Northamptonshire, will team up with Clews and Clyburn in the British women’s championship at Portstewart Golf Club, Ireland, from 9–13 June. Lamb is the reserve.
Gemma Clews (Delamere Forest, image © Leaderboard Photography) won all four of her games in the recent England v Spain international at Burnham & Berrow. She has also recently won the Delamere Comboy scratch at her own club.
India Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) won a host of titles in 2014, including the English girls’ championship and the England Golf girls’ order of merit.
Alice Hewson (Berkhamsted) also contributed to England’s win over Spain and has recently won the Hampshire Rose.
Sophie Lamb (Clitheroe) successfully defended the girls’ title at the Fairhaven Trophies in 2014 and was in England’s winning teams at the girls’ Home Internationals for the last two years.
Meghan MacLaren (Wellingborough) is the British stroke play champion and has won seven times on the US women’s college circuit.
Hollie Muse (West Lancashire) also helped England to beat Spain and has won the Scottish U16 girls’ championship and The Leveret this season.
Bethan Popel (Long Ashton) also represented England against Spain – where she had a hole in one – and tied third in the Welsh open stroke play.
