A Scottish team comprising Cameron Adam (Royal Burgess – pictured), Cameron Johnstone (Kilmarnock Barassie) and Ben Read (Banchory) has won the Nations Cup held in conjunction with the first two rounds of the McGregor Trophy at Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club in Nottinghamshire.
The trio combined to claim a five-shot lead over an Italian team comprising Luigi Federico Magni, Pietro Guido Fenoglio and Flavio Michetti on five under par 275 in a competition in which the best two scores out of three counted in each round.
It was the first time Scotland has won the trophy since it was inaugurated in 2005.
“It was great to win the trophy and to find out that it’s a first for Scotland too,” said Adam, who is currently tied first in the individual competition with Northern Ireland’s Joshua Hill during the final round.
An English team made up of Jack Bigham (Harpenden), Josh Hill (Trump International Dubai) and Reis Suart (Welwyn Garden City) were third on one over par 281.
The McGregor Trophy concludes with the third and fourth rounds today.
