Disabled Golf Association

We source venues, professional coaches and equipment to provide a complete pathway from beginners at taster sessions, to events, and elite events such as internationals. Our elite events provide an inspiration and focus both for the Order of Merit running through the season and for media activity that in turn attracts more members to join.

Research shows improved social, psychological and physical well-being leads to greater independence and less dependency on other people and the state. With the right equipment golf provides an opportunity for those unable to stand/balance normally to stand-up-and-play, relieving pressure sores and building strength.

The incredible power of golf, regardless of whether you’ve played before or not, to focus the mind and keep the neural pathways working cannot be underestimated. Once a golfer, always a golfer, despite serious injury or illness. Disabled golf is about camaraderie and competition.

Golf is one of very few sports available to disabled people that is played out in the fresh air and occasional sunshine; golf is the only sport that can be played on a par with non-disabled people through its Stableford points system

The Disabled Golf Association (DGA), has its roots in the former Disabled Golf Society which was founded in 2010 to facilitate access to golf for disabled people in England (and which ceased trading at the end of 2013 with all 650 or so members moved over from DGS to DGA).

The Disabled Golf Association CIC (DGA) was established at the beginning of 2014 and has achieved status as a charitable Community Interest Company (CIC) as approved by the Charities Aid Foundation – with the sole purpose of getting more disabled people onto a golf course for therapy and general well-being. We are largely run by our great team of volunteers, employing minimal staffing for the benefit of all disabled and impaired golfers, and would be golfers in England.
