England scooped the Nations Cup trophy at the German Girls’ Open with an impressive sub-par team performance at St Leon-Rot.
Rosie Belsham, Charlotte Heath, Lily May Humphreys and Mimi Rhodes took the honours with a score of 12-under par, beating Germany by one stroke.
Rhodes (Burnham & Berrow), Heath (Huddersfield) and Belsham (Whitley Bay) went on to score seven-under for the 72-hole championship and a share of eighth place. Humphreys (Stoke by Nayland) finished on five-under.
It’s the latest in a series of notable performances by England Golf squad players. Belsham recently won the girls’ title at the Fairhaven Trophies with a record score of 23-under par, and Humphreys has won the Irish and Welsh women’s open titles this season.
In the simultaneous Boys’ Open, the English challenge was led by Kent’s Jacob Kelso (Kings Hill) who tied 11th on six-under par. Kelso is a past winner of the English Boys’ County Champion of Champions tournament.
