Home Internationals – Day One: England claim hat-trick of wins

England made a flying start to the 2021 Home International Series with victory in all three matches on day one of the action at Woodhall Spa.

The senior men’s and women’s squad got the ball rolling with a 8-4 victory against Ireland.

The combined girls’ and boys’ squad also proved too strong for the young Irish team and won their encounter by a thumping 18.5 to 2.5 margin.

The women had too much in the tank for their Welsh counterparts – recording an emphatic 8-1 victory.

England won all six sessions (three sets of morning foursomes and three sets of afternoon singles) to provide the perfect platform upon which to build for the final two days.

The round robin event will see England face their counterparts from Ireland, Wales and Scotland across the three days of competitions.

Tomorrow the senior men and women will face Wales who lost 7-5 to Scotland.

In the women’s series, Scotland will be England’s next opponents after losing 5.5 to 3.5 against Ireland.

The England girls’ and boys’ squad will come up against Wales who lost 14.5 to 6.5 against the Scots.
