As part of our Give It A Shot golf club membership campaign, we spoke to golf club members Jenny Cox and Rosemary Fehler.
Women’s participation in golf has been on a steady increase in recent years and both Jenny and Rosemary admit the social side of membership has drawn them to the sport.
They also talk about their different motivations and passions for golf, and how the increased exercise has changed their lives for the better.
“I was offered a number of different memberships but I decided to go straight into full membership,” said Rosemary. “I had the time to play and I’m a great believer that if I’m going to get better at something, I have to throw myself into it.
“It’s been life-changing for me. I’m exercising a lot more now and have a great social life. One day you can go out and think you’ve conquered it – you’re there and you’re hitting great shots.”
Jenny added: “I think it’s definitely benefited my health and wellbeing, particularly coming out of Covid. Just being able to get out and get some fresh air, see new people and integrate yourself among people you wouldn’t necessarily meet in everyday life has been really lovely.
“I’ve made several female friends who I regularly golf with now. Everybody is so welcoming and encouraging and supportive.”
