Fourth place for England ladies

England had to settle for fourth place at the end of the European ladies’ team championship at Ljubljana, Slovenia after losing the bronze-medal play-off to Switzerland.

The team were beaten 4½-2½ in the battle for third place. The team’s points were scored by Hayley Davis, who won 2/1, Bronte Law, who won on the 19th, and Charlotte Thomas, whose match was halved.

 It’s the second year in a row that England have lost the bronze medal play-off and finished fourth.

The championship was won by France, followed by Finland, Switzerland, England, Italy, Sweden, Spain and Germany.

Meanwhile England finished sixth in the European girls’ team championship after they lost to Spain 4½ -½.
