Gemma Hunter is England Golf’s Head of Handicapping and Course Rating – you can write on a pin head what Gemma doesn’t know about WHS!
This week’s question comes from Laurie Kirkbride. Laurie writes:
When Golf Courses are being rated, where is the measurement taken from, The Fixed Marker or The back of the tee?
Gemma replies: “Our ratings teams are required to start the rating process from the Fixed Marker, unless this is less than 4 yards from the back of the tee. If it is less than 4 yards from the back, the team will make an adjustment to the measured yardage. If the ratings team feel that the difference are substantial then they will inform the club.”
