England’s boys and girls ready to defend Home Internationals

England’s boys’ and girls’ teams have been named for next week’s Home Internationals at Downfield Golf Club near Dundee.

The boys and girls will take part in three days of competition (2-4 August) for their own individual titles (R&A Boys’ Trophy and Stroyan Cup) as well as a combined junior championship for the overall R&A Trophy.

Last year at Woodhall Spa, the boys and girls won the combined title and will be looking to repeat the feat and win their own individual crowns against the best young talent from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

  • Ben Brown – Romanby GC, Yorkshire

  • Charlie Croker – Thorndon Park, Essex
  • Sam Easterbrook – Olton GC, Warwickshire
  • Josh Hill – Trump International GC, Dubai
  • Frazer Jones – Kirkby Muxloe GC, Leicestershire
  • Dylan Shaw Radford – Huddersfield GC, Yorkshire
  • Reis Suart – Welwyn Garden City GC, Hertfordshire
  • Joe Sykes – Golf at Goodwood, Sussex

The boys’ event comprises four morning foursomes and eight afternoon singles.

  • Sophia Fullbrook – The Melbourne GC, Hertfordshire
  • Rosie Bee Kim – The Buckinghamshire, Buckinghamshire

  • Ellise Rymer (pictured below left) Lincoln GC, Lincolnshire
  • Amelia Wan – Sherwood Forest GC, Nottinghamshire
  • Imogen Williamson – Delamere Forest GC, Cheshire
  • Ellen Yates – West Hill GC, Surrey

The girls will take part in three morning foursomes and six afternoon singles.

Two of the boys’ team – Hill and Cave (pictured above) – were part of the winning Home International selection in 2021.

Also included in the boys’ set-up for this year is Carris Trophy winner Dylan Shaw-Radford and runner-up in the English Under 18 Championship Easterbrook.

Five of the squad – Brown, Croker, Jones, Suart and Sykes – are newcomers to the England team.

There is a freshness too about the make-up of the girls’ team.

Fullbrook has earned her call-up after shooting 62 in the last round of the English Girls’ Championship to win the national title.

Williamson has stepped up from under 16 level having competed for England against Switzerland and Spain.

The five other team members are drawn from the full England girls’ squad.
