The six-man England team has been named to defend the trophy at the 2017 Costa Ballena Quadrangular Tournament in Spain.
The players include Yorkshire’s Will Whiteoak and Wiltshire’s Ben Amor (image © Leaderboard Photography) who were in last year’s winning team. They will be joined by George Bloor of Derbyshire, Tom Gandy of the Isle of Man, Matthew Jordan and Josh McMahon of Cheshire.
The match, against Germany, Italy and Spain will take place at Costa Ballena Golf Club from 25-27 January. England will be targeting their sixth victory, having won in 2016, 2014, 2006, 2005 and 2001.
Ben Amor, 21, (Marlborough) helped England win the 2016 Costa Ballena Tournament and went on to become the English Men’s County Champion of Champions.
George Bloor, 21, (Cavendish) was runner-up in both the English amateur championship and the North of England amateur.
Tom Gandy, 24, (Rowany) was a quarter finalist in the English men’s amateur and reached the matchplay stages of the Amateur Championship.
Matthew Jordan, 20, (Royal Liverpool) was runner-up in the Dutch Junior Open, third in the Hampshire Salver and fourth in the Irish Open.
Josh McMahon, 21, (Wallasey) was seventh in the Brabazon Trophy, third in the Northern county qualifier and fourth in the Lee Westwood Trophy.
Will Whiteoak, 22, (Shipley) was in England’s winning team at the 2016 Costa Ballena quadrangular tournament. He also helped Yorkshire to win the 2016 English Men’s County Finals.
