Hayley Davis, 19, from Ferndown in Dorset, became one of the youngest winners of the English championship when she claimed the title at her first attempt, aged 17. In 2011 she won the English girls’ championship and has since completed a successful first year at university in the USA.
The championship is played over 72 holes. After three rounds there will be a cut with the top 60 players and ties qualifying for the final round.
