England will face the auld enemy Scotland for the European Men’s Team Championship at Silkeborg Ry tomorrow (Saturday) after both came safely through their semi-finals.
Looking to regain the title last won in 2010, England romped to a 6-1 victory over the Netherlands while the Scots overcame France 4.5 – 2.5.
England were in the box seat after taking both morning foursomes with the successful pairing of Garrick Poretous (image copyright Tom Ward Photography) and Neil Raymond once again securing the first point of the day. Nathan Kimsey and Max Orrin gained another win before England added four of the five singles, only Orrin tasting defeat in the bottom game.
Both foursomes were secured by 1 hole margins but England took command in the singles with Callum Shinkwin and Toby Tree securing 3 and 2 wins while Amateur champion Porteous saw his side over the line with a 4 and 3 success.
Kimsey increased the scoreline with a 2 and 1 victory to not only underline England’s supremacy but to also confirm their final place.
