England boy international Ben Jones capped his season with an eight shot win in the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy at Royal Liverpool.
The championship was played in the most demanding of weather conditions, especially when Storm Aileen battered Hoylake with winds of up to 75 mph, delaying the start of the second round.
However Jones, from Northamptonshire County, controlled the ball very well for rounds of 75, two-under 70 and 73.
“It was tough but I played solid all week, I felt I played well enough to win,” said the 18-year-old, who is the long-time leader on the England Golf boys’ order of merit.
The tournament featured an international field of U18 champions or the winners of major golfing events. Jones claimed his place as the winner of the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters.
It is the only junior tournament in the world that plays solely on Open Championship courses.
The joint runners-up were Oscar Teiffel of Sweden, Rasmus Neergaard-Peterson of Denmark and Keita Nakajima of Japan.
