English Open Amateur for golfers with a disability

The English Open Amateur for golfers with a disability is a 36 hole, stroke play championship open to male and female amateur golfers of all nationalities (in possession of a competition “c” handicap not exceeding 36.4 under the CONGU Unified Handicapping System or a comparable scheme operated by a recognised overseas golf union, federation or association) with either of the following definitions of disability:

i)     In possession of an EDGA Access Pass

ii)   In possession of an EDGA World Rankings Pass (WR4DG)

iii)   Be a deaf golfer with a hearing loss of 40db or more with ICSD number or UK Deaf Sport classification

iv)  Be a blind golfer with a confirmed national or international sight classification (B1, B2, B3 or B4): view classifications here

v)   Have an intellectual impairment – either as a Special Olympics GB athlete or as UKSA registered athlete – II1 (intellectual impairment), II2 – for athletes with additional impairment (includes Down syndrome), II3 – for athletes with high functioning autism

Prizes will also be awarded to the lowest net scores for female players in CONGU handicap categories 1, 2 and 3 combined and male players in CONGU handicap categories 1, 2 and 3 combined. 3.4.

Players in CONGU handicap categories 4 and 5 will play in a 36 hole stableford competition category of the main Championship. Prizes will be awarded to the highest stableford scores in this category.
