Our Golf Club Governance Guide

Our Golf Club Governance Guide

How to make your club run smoothly

At England Golf, we’re often asked: ‘how can my club improve its governance?’

We’re here to give you the support you need to run a successful club, effectively prepare for the future and help grow the game.

To help you improve your governance, we’ve provided a guide packed with useful information and handy resources.

We created this in collaboration with other golf bodies – Scottish Golf, Wales Golf, the Golf Club Managers’ Association (GCMA), the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and the National Golf Clubs’ Advisory Association (NGCAA) – so that clubs receive the same advice wherever they look for help. It explains how to structure and run your management committee, role descriptions, strategic planning and more.

Workshops

We also run workshops for clubs on ‘Changing Culture through Good Governance.’ Ask your England Golf regional manager about these.

Should your club incorporate?

The best way to avoid putting club officers and their assets at personal risk is to become a company limited by guarantee. There are plenty of other reasons to incorporate.

We can provide straightforward information on the benefits of incorporation and the steps you’ll need to take.
