Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

The UK Government updated their stance on the National Lockdown on 22 February to include the ‘roadmap to return’.

This roadmap out of lockdown included the re-opening of golf courses from no earlier than 29 March 2021. This date is wholly contingent on the data supplied to government and is subject to change if the government’s four tests are not met.

When the government allows play to resume, the England Golf ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ protocols for playing the game should be referenced by all golfers and golf clubs.

At all times during the course of the pandemic, England Golf staff remain available to support golfers, clubs and counties.

We will signpost to relevant information and government advice where we can and as quickly as possible with the help of our Club Support Officer network.

Please continue to check our social media channels and website for all the latest updates on golf and the Covid-19 situation.

Play Safe Frameworks

England Golf has produced a ‘Playing the Game’ protocol which is regularly updated to reflect current government guidance.

When play is permitted, all clubs/facilities should adhere to the guidelines provided. These are published to assist clubs/facilities in providing as safe an environment as they can. Failure to follow this guidance may leave clubs/facilities open to enforcement action from local authorities and/or Police, or subject to disciplinary procedures from England Golf.
