Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

The UK Government has instructed all golf courses and facilities to close with immediate effect from 4 January 2021.

This is in response to the rapid rise in transmission rates of the Covid-19 outbreak and as a result of England being placed in alert level 5 – a national lockdown.

When government allows play to resume, regularly updated ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ protocols for playing the game should be referenced by all golfers and golf clubs.

At all times during the course of the pandemic, England Golf staff remain available to support golfers, clubs and counties.

We will signpost to relevant information and government advice where we can and as quickly as possible with the help of our Club Support Officer network.

Please continue to check our social media channels and website for all the latest updates on golf and the Covid-19 situation.

Play Safe Frameworks

England Golf has produced a series of ‘Play Safe, Stay Safe’ protocols.

The guidelines on ‘Playing the Game’ are regularly updated to reflect current government guidance.

When play is permitted, all clubs/facilities should adhere to the guidelines provided. These are published to assist clubs/facilities in providing as safe an environment as they can. Failure to follow this guidance may leave clubs/facilities open to enforcement action from local authorities and/or Police, or subject to disciplinary procedures from England Golf.
