Competition Format

This final is contested by four county senior men’s teams, each representing one of the England Golf regional groups.

This championship is played by match play on a round robin basis over three days. Each day’s play will have two matches consisting of three games of 18-hole foursomes in the morning and six games of 18 hole singles in the afternoon.

Each county enters a team of eight players. Any six of these may play in the foursomes and any six in the singles of each match.

  • 12.10.17: Yorkshire win English senior title for first time - Yorkshire won a hard fought match against Warwickshire today to become the English Senior Men's County Champions for the first time.
  • 12.10.17: Yorkshire close in on senior championship - Yorkshire edged closer to victory in the English Senior men's County Championship when they battled to a 2-1 lead over Warwickshire after this morning's foursomes. In the other match, Sussex also lead Gloucestershire 2-1.
  • 11.10.17: Yorkshire are senior title favourites - Yorkshire came through an endurance test today to become favourites to capture the English Senior Men's County Championship for the first time.
  • 11.10.17: Tough test for senior teams - Tough conditions tested the players in the second day foursomes at the senior men's English County Championship, where the wind whipped across the links at Goswick Golf Club, Northumberland.
  • 10.10.17: Battling wins for Yorkshire and Warwickshire - Yorkshire and Warwickshire battled their way to wins on the first day of the English Senior Men's County Championship at Goswick Golf Club, Northumberland.

The Club facilities have been continually improved and upgraded over the last few years in order to satisfy the demands of a full membership, making it a popular venue for business, social events and visiting societies.
